Visit Art Museums
The Getty Museum has two parts, both of which are architecturally significant. The Getty Center features centuries of art in a modern campus overlooking Los Angeles. Works include some of the most revered artists across Europe. The Getty Villa in Malibu was designed after great Roman villas and houses art and artifacts that date back thousands of years. Reservations are free and strongly recommended at both the Getty Center and Getty Villa. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is one of the cornerstones of the Los Angeles art world. And The Broad museum is a unique experience filled with awe-inspiring works - reservations made weeks in advance strongly recommended.
Go Shopping
There are many shopping areas across Los Angeles, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills being one of the most renowned with some of the country's great shops. Be sure to walk up the Rodeo Drive steps for a lovely one-block cobblestone stroll. The Grove at 3rd and Fairfax has also become a popular, well-known stop with a trolley and historic Farmer's Market.
Catch A Show
The historic Hollywood Bowl is one of the great venues for concerts and shows. The summer residence of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the bowl has musical performances of all genres from spring to autumn. The LA Phil can also be experienced at Walt Disney Concert Hall, another architecturally significant building designed by Frank Gehry. If you're looking to take in a film, Los Angeles has some of the great, historic movie theaters in the world, including The Village Theater in Westwood and both Mann's Chinese Theater and the Cinerama Dome (now operated by ArcLight Cinemas) in Hollywood.
Enjoy Incredible Dining
Los Angeles is home to some of the country's great restaurants and a foodie scene that is fast becoming world-recognized. Some of our favorites include: Lucques, featuring some of the best American fare you will find and never a disappointing meal; Spago, the "new" home of Wolfgang Puck in the heart of Beverly Hills; Nerano in Beverly Hills is one of our favorite Italian spots in a modern setting with a fantastic bar; and Nobu Malibu, some of the best Japanese food in Southern California overlooking the crashing Pacific waves.
Other Adventures
Griffith Observatory offers entertaining and educational shows and a tour across the galaxy, in addition to breathtaking views of all of Los Angeles as well as the Hollywood sign.
